The PNC on ISAD has identified SMME as a priority area in the building of an inclusive information society. The function of the SMME sector is to:

• Advise on effective mechanisms to improve the uptake of ICTs by SMMEs

• Advise on effective mechanisms to accelerate the entry of SMMEs into the ICT sector

• To evaluate ICT SMME related policies, projects and programmes to ensure the prevalence of a coordinated and integrated development approach

• Support ICT SMME government programmes and initiatives
